| Monthly Heard Health Days- Every month we do a herd health day to give wormers, check body conditioning, trim toe nails, and check basic overall health of each animal. If you'd like some hands on learning about alpacas this is your chance to volunteer! Extra hands are always welcome. This is a great FREE way to gain some experience taking care of alpacas.. | May 3rd- Shearing Day & Fiber Demonstrations- Free & Open to the public... We'll be shearing some alpacas and giving demonstrations of how our fiber is processed here on our farm. You're welcome to join in the fun or just sit and watch. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| May 10th - Felting A Hat- This hat felting workshop will be held at Atlantic Breeze Alpacas in beautiful Floyd, VA. With the Blue Ridge Mountains as our background, we'll spend part of the day learning how to make a wet felted hat and the rest of the day will be spent soaking up the wonderful amenities Atlantic Breeze Alpacas has to offer! | May 17-18th- Fiber Weekend Workshop - This two day weekend workshop is being held in Somerset, VA at Lagniappe Alpaca Farm. I'll be teaching wet felting, needle felting, skirting, carding, and more. Everyone gets to take home all the goodies they make like a wet felted hat, needle felted alpaca, felted scarf, wet felted purse and more. | October 18th & 19th 2008 The VAOBA Alpaca Expo- The Virginia Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association will be holding it's 2nd annual Alpaca Show at the Deep Run Hunt Club in Manakin Sabot Virginia just east of Richmond. This is open to the public and free of charge. Expect to see about 500 alpacas competing for ribbons, free seminars throughout the weekend, and alpaca farms from all over the east coast. The VAOBA members will have a farm store set up featuring our alpaca products for sale so bring the checkbook and get some of that holiday shopping done while you're there!
